Aquarius, you are the bohemian armchair philosophers of the zodiac, and that’s part of why we love you! You love all that is strange and heartbreaking and you like your books poetic and flowery. As a result, methinks you will thoroughly enjoy Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Laini Taylor’s glorious prose and layered plotting will pull you in, but we all know you’ll stay for that heart-breaking love story!
Pisces you love capital “r” Romance. You also love that which feels fresh but also classic at the same time. Now praise my brilliance, because I’ve found a book that somehow has all these characteristics and more! Reading That Dark Infinity feels like you’re reading a classic, but its fantasy elements are strange, glorious, and wonderfully modern! And the ROMANCE! Let’s just say I simp for the Ankou, and by the end of this book you will too!
Oh my fiery Aries, you wonderfully chaotic rams! If the cover of this book doesn’t help to illustrate precisely why I think this book is perfect for you, let me illuminate. Two girls, one caught using illegal magic the other caught impersonating a boy so she could join the army. Their punishment? They will have to work together in an experimental all-female flight unit to undertake terrifying, deadly missions under the cover of darkness. But the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together, let alone the same cockpit. Will the enemy’s superior firepower destroy them – or will they destroy each other first? Do you see why I chose this one for you now, my blazing aries?
You’re known for being a homebody, Taurus, but when you get mad you stay mad. And then you get even. And that’s just like Emelia. She would be perfectly happy working at her family’s restaurant for the rest of her life. But when her twin sister is murdered, Emelia’s life changes irrevocably. Her hunt for her twin’s killer leads her down the darkest roads, pitting her against the demon princes of Hell – the Wicked. And the most wicked of all… Wrath. Let’s just say, you’ll live for this hunt for revenge with a heavy helping of spicy romance!
Gemini, you are as charming as you are infuriating. Your charisma gives you a gravitational pull that is undeniable while your favorite form of flirting is in fact arguing. You take pleasure in being devil’s advocate in the most adorable way possible. I think you’ll find a lot in common with miss Emanuela Ragno from Beyond the Ruby Veil. You know, except for the bloodthirstiness. And murder. And doublecrossing. And… Okay, well. What I’m saying is you’ll love watching Emanuela be evil! As awful as she is, you can’t help but sort of root for her. Sure, she’s the bad guy… but she’s so much fun!
Cancers, you are the emotional crutches upon which the whole rest of the zodiac depends. You are sensitive and emotionally attuned, which is why I think you will adore Strange the Dreamer. Laini Taylor is known for her poetic words – I mean, writer is not descriptive enough for what she does. She is a wordsmith, and the Strange the Dreamer duology is, I think, her most romantic work yet. I won’t say more than that, because half the fun of these books is learning the mystery for yourself, but be prepared for this book to emotionally crush you and love every second of it!
My fellow leos – glorious, glorious lions you! If you don’t relate to Evie O’Neil, I’m sorry, but I am revoking your leo status. #SorryNotSorry. I mean, she’s the flapper IT girl we all want to be – charming, sassy, the life of the party! Never mind that she has the supernatural ability that could help catch a serial killer! As this series unfolds it becomes much larger than one killer, as something dark and evil awakens… But for now, embrace the glitterati of 1926 New York and follow Evie as she falls in and out of speakeasies and right into a dance with a ghostly killer!
You are always on it, my virgos. As the most Type A of the signs, you like it when you can solve problems efficiently, and as a walking encyclopedia, you rarely find a conundrum you can’t solve with the right amount of elbow grease and duct tape. You’ll love the orderly way Sophronia and her fellow finishing school dilettantes dispatch with all manner of issues – like vampires, werewolves, octopus-clad dandies and, shudder the thought, a rude guest at tea. For Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality is not your normal Victorian finishing school. For while these Young Ladies of Quality may learn the arts of dance, dress, and etiquette, they’ll also be perfecting their skills in dealing death, diversion, and espionage!
Libra, I’m sorry, but I’ve given you quite the conundrum. You see, I know you don’t like conflict and love to see the best in people. Which is partially why I’ve given you A Season of Sinister Dreams in which two magical girls, both hoping to protect their kingdom, find themselves pitted against one another. You’ll struggle as you watch Evra and Annalise, so similar in so many ways, go up against one another in an effort to save their kingdom. But you’ll love this struggle because you’ll fall in love with both our main characters! And I won’t tell you you’ll have to decide who your favorite is because we both know you can’t make decisions to save your life, but I will say you’ll absolutely adore this book!
Scorpio, you are the most determined, ambitious, and loyal of the signs, and frankly you frighten me. You are okay with uncomfortable silences, in fact, you encourage them. The better to keep your enemies on edge. And if you were ever to be betrayed… I pity the soul who did it. You will live for this story of Alka Chelrazi as she infiltrates Blackwater Academy on a mission to bring Wizard society to its knees. At Blackwater Academy, decadent galas end in blood-spattered duels and every student has their own agenda. And it will end in fire.
Capricorn, you are the mom of the friend group. You’re the one protecting everybody, making sure everybody gets home safe and is well fed. You’re the duty-bound responsible one. I think you’ll find a lot in common with Miriam, elder sister to the baby Aurora of sleeping beauty fame. But this story doesn’t go the route of the original fairytale, because Miriam is there to protect her baby sister from the evil fairies that threaten her. She will discover a power within herself, and vow to be Aurora’s protector. The only question is if her new-found powers will be enough to save everyone she loves, let alone herself.
