The You’ve Goth My Heart Playlist: Curated by L. C. Rosen

This is a hard one, because goth music means different things to different people. Some want vampire vibes, some seek industrial, some think it’s going screaming rage and misery set to music. So I tried to mix it up. There’s some eldergoth stuff – Siouxie, Rasputina – and some of the cool new young goth stuff – Drab Majesty, Night Club. I also threw in goth covers of pop songs, and stuff from Labyrinth, industrial, goth folk, Turkish post-punk – an assortment – because goth runs a gamut! Sometimes it’s fun dark camp, sometimes it’s genuine soul screaming misery. I’m sure there are darker souls than I who will feel this is not a true goth playlist, and they’re probably right! But here are some songs that really suit YOU’VE GOTH MY HEART. And Friday I’m in Love, which isn’t really goth, but which features in the book.

In any case, here’s some music you can wallow in misery with:

Transylvanian Concubine – Rasputina

Cruelty – Unwoman

Dear Prudence – Siouxie and the Banshees

Gossip – Night Club

The Heiress – Drab Majesty

The Queen is Dead – The Smiths

As The World Falls Down – David Bowie (Labyrinth soundtrack)

A Forest – The Cure
