The Signs as Characters from Kissed by the Gods
In honor of the absolutely stunning KISSED BY THE GODS deluxe hardcover hitting shelves, I thought why not pair the cast of characters with the signs of the zodiac? Now these are, of course, based only on the glimpses we get into each character’s personality, and as much as I like to knowingly say, “Ahh that makes sense” when someone tells me their zodiac sign, I’m not actually an expert. But just go with it!
Aries

Leina
Aries are bold, they are ambitious, and they charge into things, determined to come out on top. They are a fire sign, and hello, Leina is definitely fiery. They often have no filter and sometimes they can be a little impulsive. I’m not saying any of these are a bad thing! I’m just telling it like it is…like an Aries would.
Taurus

Archon Lyathin
Taurus are known for being resistant to change and Archon Lyathin isn’t exactly welcoming of new things or ignoring tradition. They like to be in control and thrive on routine. They also work tirelessly to achieve what they want, which could be good, but not when it means upholding outdated systems and beliefs.
Gemini

Leif
Gemini are a lot of things (they’re twins!) including energetic and chatty. Leif is sociable and kind to Leina, which is a refreshing change from the stoic, fierce world she lives in, where it often seems like everyone is her enemy.
Cancer

Nyrica
These crabs are another intuitive sign of the zodiac, often nurturing and protecting those close to them. But, as we see with Nyrica, they also have a hard shell, fiercely protecting themselves and hiding their own emotions and feelings.
Leo

Ryot
Is it too on the nose to make Ryot a Leo? But THE MANE. Also the fierce loyalty, the leadership, the passion! Plus Ryot and Leina…two fire signs? There’s a reason this book gets a little steamy!!
Virgo

Princess Rissa
While she mainly comes across as cold, Rissa is logical, systematic, and a problem solver. Her loyalties pull her in different directions, and her relationships are complicated, but she’s also a perfectionist and when she sets her mind to something, gets it done.
Libra

The Elder
A prestigious and revered character, he also illustrates a balance between the past traditions and the future possibilities. His mentorship and acceptance of Leina shows progress, and not a figure of selfishness, but one that strives for harmony and justice.
Scorpio

Thalric
Ok I know Scorpios get a bad rap but they are fiercely loyal and protective, even if it doesn’t necessarily seem it from the outside. Thalric is mysterious and complicated, as well as extremely courageous—all totally traits of this very misunderstood sign!
Sagittarius

Faelon
He is outwardly a total flirt when we first encounter him, but we learn he also hides behind humor and banter. The winks, the wit, the repeated whacks on the back of the head to shut up. Who doesn’t have a soft spot for a Sag?
Capricorn

King Agis
A Capricorn is determined to climb to the top of any mountain. And at any cost. That sounds a lot like King Agis to me! Unforgiving, stern, ruled by Saturn, which is the planet of repression?? Need I go on? (Yes, I only focused on the slightly more negative traits. Not sorry.)
Aquarius

Caius
Hear me out! Again! Caius is definitely a fixed sign. And some people consider Aquarius the most humanitarian sign of the zodiac, a revolutionary determined to make the world a better place, even if the sacrifices are grave. Which tracks! Plus they seem to not delve deep into their emotions. But maybe, as Leina learns, Caius is just good about facing them head on instead of ignoring them.
Pisces

Elowen
Pisces are often considered the most intuitive of the zodiac, and along with that comes empathy and compassion. A healer like Elowen absorbs the emotions and understands others, sometimes before they even realize things about themselves.
