Recently, we've gotten a lot of questions asking what the NOVL Book Squad is all about. We don't want to keep you in the dark, so here are some frequently asked questions answered!

Q: What is the NOVL Book Squad?

A: Great question! The NOVL Book Squad is just our name for our early review program. Every month, we choose an upcoming release for 30 NOVLers to review. However, the link to enter for a chance to review is only through the newsletter, so make sure to sign up if you haven't already!

Q: Are we required to review the books in order to be in the book squad?

A: While we can't force anyone to read the book and send in a review, this is an early review program and not just a giveaway, so we expect everyone who got a book to review it within 4-6 weeks upon receiving the book.

Q: Is there a follower/subscriber requirement? how do we get chosen?

A: Nope. We don't believe that the amount of followers and/or subscribers matter when it comes to being a book lover. We do check all the links that you send us through the form, whether it be your blog, Goodreads, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc, but just to make sure you're a true fan and not just in it to get a free book. We read and appreciate every single review that you send in—positive or negative. We also take note when you post a review of our book even if we didn't send it to you.

Q: If we miss the 4-6 week window to send in a review, are we out?

A: No! We're all busy people and our #TBR is forever and ever looming over us. However, we do have a disclaimer at the top of our Book Squad form that say you agree to provide a review within 4-6 weeks upon receiving the book, so see where that fits into your schedule.

Q: What do you do with our reviews after you receive them?

A: First, we read them. Then, we pull quotes from the reviews that we particularly liked, make graphics from them, and put them on the respective book pages (example). Sometimes, they're even shared with the author!

We hope we answered your questions, but if you still have more, comment below with your question and we'll do our best to get back to them!

All Your Questions About Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel Answered

dear evan hansen FAQ.jpg

Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel is one of our most anticipated books of the year! Instead of the usual book-to-media adaptation, this novel is the reverse route turns that concept on its head, since it’s inspired by the musical.  Confused? Don't worry, we got you! Here's our Dear Evan Hansen FAQ:

How is Dear Evan Hansen the novel different from the musical?

You'll have to read and find out! Okay but really, the book is an expanded story from the original. It means it goes into more details and covers more backstory than seen in the musical, including Connor's POV.

Why are there four names on the cover?

Steven Levenson, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are all co-creators of Dear Evan Hansen: the Musical and they worked with Val Emmich to adapt the musical to Dear Evan Hansen: the Novel.

When does it come out?

October 9, 2018!

Can I pre-order?

Of course! You can pre-order here, at your local bookstore, or anywhere books are sold.

What makes the first edition of the book extra-special?

The limited-time first edition keepsake includes a beautifully designed note from the authors.

What are these special editions I’ve been hearing about?

The “Anybody Have a List?” edition is exclusively available at Barnes & Noble, and you can pre-order it here. It includes Connor’s list of ten favorite books as well as lists from each of the authors about what inspired them in creating this story.

Meanwhile, especially for fans of the musical, Target has an exclusive edition with a never-before-seen monologue (from Evan!) and a song (by Zoe!) that were cut from the Broadway production. You can pre-order the Target exclusive edition here.

Will there be a book tour?

Yes, stay tuned for the tour dates!

All Your Questions About The Lost Sisters Answered

the lost sisters faq

You know how excited we are for The Wicked King by now and we're so excited about The Lost Sisters, an e-novella set in the same world! Here are the answers to your most frequently asked questions about The Lost Sisters

What is it?

This is an e-novella bridging the gap between The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King! It's told in a letter from Taryn to Jude about how she fell in love with Locke. Here's the summary:

Sometimes the difference between a love story and a horror story is where the ending comes…

While Jude fought for power in the Court of Elfhame against the cruel Prince Cardan, her sister Taryn began to fall in love with the trickster, Locke.

Half-apology and half-explanation, it turns out that Taryn has some secrets of her own to reveal.

When does it come out?

October 2, 2018! It will be $2.99.

Can I pre-order?

Yes! You can pre-order at any e-retailers here.

Should I read it before The Wicked King

It takes place before The Wicked King because it's Taryn's perspective during The Cruel Prince.

Is it necessary to read in the series?

It's not necessary to read in the series because it's complementary. But you know we can't resist anything Holly Black writes!
