Introduce Yourself

Hi! My name is Alex Kelleher-Nagorski and I’m a Publicity Manager at LBYR. I split my time between NYC and Massachusetts with my husband, Shaun, and our dog, Archie. Shaun and I are both Slytherins but Archie is definitely a valiant Gryffindor. We’re also a family of diehard Broadway geeks.

Favorite Book of All Time

My favorite novel of all time would have to be The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. It’s the most satisfying and suspenseful revenge story ever! That being said, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky is probably the most formative book I’ve ever read. Also, Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs is a memoir that I constantly think about—even now, over 15 years after I first read it. It’s such an incredible story and is so well written. Can you tell I’m too much of a bookworm to narrow this answer down to one book?

Favorite LBYR Book

As a horror junkie, I’d be remiss not to mention I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan. But I’m also a big fan of Brandy Colbert and am always super excited to read whatever she comes out with!

A Signed Book on Your Shelf

A few years ago, I was lucky enough to meet one of my literary icons, Joan Didion. She signed my copy of We Tell Ourselves Stories in Order to Live, a single volume that collects seven of her most revered nonfiction books. It’s one of my most treasured possessions.

A Literary Obsession

I’m a total sucker for political memoirs. I am fascinated by politics but was never interested in entering that arena myself. Therefore, I love to read about the people who do, what inspires them and how they make the tough decisions they constantly face. Some recent favorites include Kamala Harris’ The Truths We Hold, Pete Buttigieg’s Shortest Way Home, Hillary Clinton’s What Happened, and Michelle Obama’s Becoming.

Book(s) that You Think Everyone Should Read

The first book that comes to mind is No One Belongs Here More Than You, a collection of short stories by Miranda July. July’s writing is so lyrical and beautiful. These stories are filled with characters that feel so real and multidimensional that it truly seems like they leap off the pages. It’s an achingly gorgeous book that examines the human condition in highly original ways that will make you cry, laugh, cringe and want to reread it over and over again.

Unexpected Book that You Love

I just finished devouring THE LADIES WHO PUNCH by Ramin Setoodeh and am already clamoring for a sequel that focuses on the relationship between Joy Behar and Meghan McCain.

Favorite Book Cover

The original hardcover cover for The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. This is one of my favorite books of all time! It’s a lavish story that takes some of the world’s most beloved fairy tale and literary characters and interweaves them while also turning them on their heads. It’s a brilliant exploration of grief set in a fantastical world that I can never get enough of. The original cover (it’s since been updated for the paperback) featured a stunning illustration of a little boy reading on a tree branch. This image always stuck with me – so much so that I even got it tattooed on my left arm!
